Overview

This course is designed for support staff in schools, concentrating on the first aid treatment for children. It is ideal for those members of staff who do not have Paediatric First Aid qualification but may find themselves in a situation prior to the arrival of such qualified staff

Who should attend?
Any person working in a school or nursery environment where they may be required to act in an emergency situation prior to the arrival of other qualified staff

Course Outcome
Following completion of the course the candidates will have knowledge in first aid for children and will receive a certificate valid for 3 years

o Priorities of treatment
o Actions in an emergency
o Assessment of injuries/illness
o Unconscious casualty
o Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for children
o Fracture management
o Control of bleeding
o Causes of unconsciousness
o Choking
