First Aid at Work

Overview:

There is a legal requirement for an employer to undertake an assessment of first aid needs in the workplace with a view to providing adequate first aid cover for the workforce and any visitors. This course gives the candidate the confidence to manage a first aid incident in the workplace and ensure legal compliance with regulation.
 

Who should attend?

Any individual designated with the responsibility to attend a sudden illness or accident within the workplace. This person should be able to respond to an incident when required.
 

Course Outcome:

On successful completion of the course and final practical skills assessment, the candidate will be awarded an HSE-First Aid Certificate of competency valid for three years.

  • Priorities of treatment
  • Actions in an emergency
  • Assessment of injuries/illness
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Fracture management
  • Control of bleeding
  • Causes of unconsciousness
  • Choking

    Duration: 4 days (24hrs student contact). As of 1st October 2009 this will be a three day course
